چکیده
Abstract Accurate knowledge of the current crack length is crucial to evaluate fracture mechanical tests. At sub-micron micron scale, directly accessible via observation during in-situ experiments in electron microscopes, or indirectly calculation from sample stiffness. In work, image processing techniques were used introduce a semi-automatic technique measure lengths at scale sequences. The utilizes manually defined filters and searches for contours near previous tip locating new one according position. To demonstrate validity capability, three micron-sized notched cantilevers prepared bending tested by partial unloading. Comparison determined proposed method, manual measurement stiffness revealed reasonable agreement, while occasional deviations allow further insights into behaviour. Thus, our approach enables more in-depth investigation small-scale processes. Graphical abstract

Processing Digital Image for Measurement of Crack Dimensions in Concrete
The elements of the concrete structure are most frequently affected by cracking. Crack detection is essential to ensure safety and performance during its service life. Cracks do not have a regular shape, in order to achieve the exact dimensions of the crack; the general mathematical formulae are by no means applicable. The authors have proposed a new method which aims to measure the crack dimen...
متن کاملIntroduction to Image Processing via Neutrosophic Techniques
This paper is an attempt of proposing the processing approach of neutrosophic technique in image processing. As neutrosophic sets is a suitable tool to cope with imperfectly defined images, the properties, basic operations distance measure, entropy measures, of the neutrosophic sets method are presented here. İn this paper we, introduce the distances between neutrosophic sets: the Hamming dista...
متن کاملMode I Fracture Toughness of a Small-Grained Silicon Nitride: Orientation, Temperature, and Crack Length Effects
The Mode I fracture toughness (KIC) of a small-grained Si3N4 was determined as a function of hot-pressing orientation, temperature, testing atmosphere, and crack length using the single-edge precracked beam method. The diameter of the Si3N4 grains was <0.4 μm, with aspect ratios of 2–8. KIC at 25°C was 6.6 ± 0.2 and 5.9 ± 0.1 MPa?m1/2 for the T–S and T–L orientations, respectively. This differe...
متن کاملAssessing of Fabric Appearance Changes Using Image Processing Techniques
This paper describes the use of image processing to measure lightness changes of fabric appearance. The lightness changes due to dyeing, washing and exposure to light treatments are studied. These properties are measured by using the changes in the intensity levels of the fabrics image and the L* obtained by a spectrophotometer. For each case, analysis of variance (ANOVA) is carded out and the...
متن کاملAutomatic road crack detection and classification using image processing techniques, machine learning and integrated models in urban areas: A novel image binarization technique
The quality of the road pavement has always been one of the major concerns for governments around the world. Cracks in the asphalt are one of the most common road tensions that generally threaten the safety of roads and highways. In recent years, automated inspection methods such as image and video processing have been considered due to the high cost and error of manual metho...
